Question regarding footpedal technology - help needed, please

Has anyone developed any type of connecting equipment so that various
footpedals can be connected into one unit and then you just have to use one
main foot pedal to access the dictation system you need? I guess it would be
similar to a KVM switch. My floor looks like it is carpeted with footpedals.
Every waveplayer system needs a different foot pedal, every transcription
machine needs a different foot pedal. I am having nightmares about falling
into the web of wires on my floor and strangling when I go fishing for a
footpedal I haven't used in a few days. Last count I had 8 of them and I am
not sure I got all the way back to the wall when I was counting. No, the
answer is not to go with one company for working, because 4 of them do belong
to one company. It depends on which account I work on. And I doubt the
Lanier voicewriter will ever be compatible with anything else, but I could
survive easier if I just had to have 2 pedals.
