Just a note that the only way that an FTP site is truly "secure" is if the
files are encrypted BEFORE they reach the server. A number of FTP hosting
companies advertise theirs as "secure" sites, but in fact all they use is
SSL encryption which only protects files IN TRANSIT; once they hit the
server they are NOT encrypted and are NOT secure.

IMHO, using an encrypted FTP client is the way to go; that way it doesn't
matter what FTP service you use. The software I sell is called HippoFTP and
it's a dandy, if I do say so myself. You can configure it so that a client
can simply double-click on a desktop icon and it will automatically upload
files from a specified folder on his PC and either move the files from the
upload folder to a different folder or delete the files from the local PC
altogether, while at the same time downloading files from a specified remote
FTP folder to a specified folder on the local PC--all the while
incorporating end-to-end encryption. You can even schedule automatic upload
and/or download tasks so that the client doesn't have to do ANYTHING to
upload files, it happens all be itself at the time(s) you specify.

I was just on the phone with a doctor today who is a client of one of my
customers who's switching this doctor to my FTP service. He was totally
blown away by how easy it was to use the software; his exact words were,
"This is the bomb." For a doctor to say that, that's something!
