Setting aside that true pedophiles are interested in pre-pubescent
children and not those who've passed menarche... the real problem with
kids that age getting pregnant most of the time comes from sexual
activity with other kids near their own ages; not adults. For years
now, our society has been either allowing or encouraging ever-younger
girls to dress and groom themselves to be sexually attractive, and now
we're seeing some of the results. When a 12 or 13 year old dresses and
puts on makeup like a 19 year old, teenage boys are going to notice it
and respond accordingly. I'm not saying it's okay for them to -- only
that it's happening and it's a natural response on the part of the boys.
If we want to stop it, we need to tell 12 year olds to dress like 12
year olds, act like 12 year olds, and stop trying to copy everything
they see on MTV. We aren't going to solve anything by letting young
girls turn themselves into "boy-bait" and then punishing the boys who
respond to them. Again, I'm not addressing the cases where girls were
forceably raped, but the fact is, most early teen pregnancies involve
willing behavior by both parties.
