their proficiency testing. The driving theme for the current AAMT
leadership is to elevate the status of MTs within the greater
healthcare
community, and mandatory testing would be a concrete step in that
direction.
Certification is something that other healthcare >
There has been certification for what? Close to 20 years now. It hasn't
made more than a drip of difference in the big picture. A good MT still
gets good money. Some healthcare professionals respect a good MT if
they know them and see their abilities, but still many regard us as
nothing more than typists, and AAMT is contributing to that by dumbing
down issues. Say changing style issues to match sloppy dictation

Twenty more years will pass and little, if any difference will be noted
except for the very few who strive to be the best they can, and have
clients who appreciate it.
AAMT is pretty much a joke to those of us who have been around a while
- and from an "a while" point of view, I've been around a lot longer
than many, but there are still a good number that make me look like a
newbie.
I think sooner or later the Tylenol won't cover the headache and the
new gungho ra-ra boys (or girls) will stop hitting their head against a
wall. What is the definition of stupid (per a relative of mine)?
Continuing to do the same thing and expect different results. There
will have to be a lot of RIP signs in Modesto before any changes that
matter will ever happen.
