So you've known women in this position and know that they wouldn't condone
his getting on with their life? I'm amazed that you have the ability to talk
to people in a minimally conscious state. They need you to head on down to
Pinellas Park and hurry up and get Terri's feelings on this.
He may have made some bad choices, but I truly think he's trying his hardest
to do what he thinks is right for her, himself, and her family. I guess I
look at it in the way that if he didn't care about her in some way he would
just divorce her, but he honestly thinks he's doing what she would have
wanted. He gains nothing by her death. NOTHING but widowerhood and a chance
at some type of normalcy that he hasn't had for 15 years. She can never
again be a wife to him. She can never again be a productive member of our
society. I am having a tough time with her being starved to death, but it's
really none of my business. And even having no belief in this God who lets
people suffer here on earth, I am still a firm believer in the moral
teachings of the bible I grew up learning. And that is basically I am not
going to judge him on his actions, it's not my place. Do you realize that
this happens all over the country all the time--the feeding tube being
withdrawn? And you don't see the press clamoring all over it and making it
into a media show like this has become. The government has stuck their nose
in something where it doesn't belong; it's none of our business either. Her
family is Roman Catholic as is his I presume and if and when the time comes
for them to be judged for whatever indiscretions they committed on this
earth, it will happen. I certainly don't have the power nor the inclination
to damn him to hell for doing the best he can with the choices he was given.
