My husband bought me a new range, Whirlpool, with the
convection/standard oven combination for Christmas. Yes, the fan comes
on when using the convection oven setting, however, the fan shuts off
immediately when you open the oven door. The fan is pretty quiet when
it does run.

Are you looking at buying a new oven?
