SP2 automatically installed on April 13.

ZDnet's recent e-mail newsletter mentioned that Microsoft was planning to automatically install service pack 2 (sorry, I don't have the link to the online article). My computer's system restore log shows that was done in the wee hours of the morning on April 13. My computer was set up to automatically download updates, but then I would manually need to install them. The SP2 bypassed that.

Actually, I was up at the time Microsoft started downloading SP2, but I didn't know what was going on so I kept canceling it. The thing was persistent and just didn't give up. When I was out of the office, the thing downloaded and installed itself and restarted my computer even though I had a bunch of open programs on it (drat!).

I haven't looked at my OS firewall (XP) as the update was supposed to change the default to on (instead of off).

Can't tell yet if it has affected programs or OS performance yet. Just thought this information might be useful to a couple of people who didn't know about the SP2 update.
