That is the way of the world. It doesn't just happen to conservative Christians so it probably evens out at the voting booth.

Unfortunately there are people who can be swayed into doing certain things by their respective clergy. I have seen it happen. That does not mean it will happen to everyone but there are some who will break under gentle persuasion from a person of influence in their life.
