Again, I agree with that, but it's obvious that the reason it was deemed
offensive was that the person thought it was a joke against gay people,


not

that she thought it was a tasteless joke against bigots which used
homosexuality as its subject matter.  A joke can't be a "hate crime," even
using hyperbole, against bigots, can it?
