Well, there you have it. I know it might be hard to do, but if you feel that strongly about it, and also you believe he really loves you, you probably should.

LOL!! Not really, but I have beat it around the bush a few times. It's like he is getting a little more receptive to the talk, but I have never really told him my true thoughts and the why's etc.
Maybe one day I will get the nerve to do that.

Have you flat out asked him about getting married and why? If not, might be all it takes.

It's the social security thing...the social security thing. ;) I have no clue WHY that is so important to me, but for some reason it is, as well as other things that could go to the state rather than to me that are important, like a lake home, etc. I doubt he even has a Will. I know I am beneficiary on his life insurance through his work, but still, if distant relatives wanted to contest that, they would probably win because they are family.
Again, I think I have my head in the grave after the cancer thing earlier in the year and still having the health issues going on that are going to continuously plague me and have to be followed closely the rest of my life, and he has mortality issues too with some health problems that have developed over the past several years that are difficult for him to face.
I guess it is not a major thing, but peace of mind is big with me in my everyday life, particularly right now. I am under a TREMENDOUS amount of monetary stress at the moment that I have not had to deal with before due to illness.

I seem to stay mad at him all the time because
he just floats through life not thinking of the future <<<<
Why would marrying him give you any kind of security then? Aside from the fact that you would be able to make decisions for and about him - what will you gain from the legal union that you don't already have?
