I am doing my work on an older laptop running Windows 98. I've never tried to run WP on XP either. If files were individual reports I think it would be a royal pain to open and edit each one into word on a secon computer. If files were a long string of reports it might be worth it.

I installed WP51 on this computer last night to see how copy and paste to Word would work in regards to formatting, etc. Word would not open with WP51 running. I haven't made any changes to XP to make WP51 run better.

I'll second what Rae said. I have a client who wants the work delivered in
Word format. I still use WP5.1 to transcribe the jobs, then I just open them
in Word, review them for any formatting changes that need to be made, and
save them in Word format. Takes about 10 seconds for each report, but WELL
worth that little bit of time compared to what it would take for me to
produce them completely within Word. The client never knows the difference.

How are you turning in reports? By the patient, i.e., each patient report is a separate file, or each day's dictation is one file with page breaks between patients? I can tell you it absolutely is doable. I've converted WP51 to Word for a client who not only used headers but footers simultaneously. Just used macros to automate the set up. No reason they shouldn't be willing to let you do that IF you can get it right. In fact, if you did, they'd never know. Someone here once did that I was told, even though work was supposed to be done in Word. LOL.
I've figured out ways around about any obstacle. In fact, recently I fixed one that was a issue even between WP51 and WP windows.

Maybe not a typewriter, but I sure would like to go back to WP5.1.

I try to do a simple thing, like move the cursor to the beginning of a sentence. Noooooo. Word moves the $^%#&(O*) thing a character at a time.
I type the question in that idiot paper clip's box, "move to beginning of sentence." The idiot paper clip gives me these instructions...
1. Specify Kashida length (Arabic only)
2. About outline view.
3. Outline a document
4. Troubleshoot creating letters
5. Drag information between programs
NOT ONE DAM.. THING ABOUT MY QUESTION.
I DESPISE WORD!!!!
.... naturally, after I write this, the blasted thing is moving from one end to the other....
