While I won't recommend putting it in the dishwasher, I would
suggest using water only and no detergent if you do go this route.
The residue from most detergents (and there's no way to get it
rinsed from all nooks and crannies) can either cause corrosion or
interfere with connectivity in electrical connections. If hot water
by itself doesn't do the trick, I don't think the detergent will
help that much.

>From a standpoint of prevention, you might consider covering the
keyboard with Saran wrap when not using it.
