I think the phones have to have been activated once. Not sure that a cell phone you buy off the shelf would work. But I can send you my old one to try - I think I have an extra charger for it too

Really? I haven't checked out cell phones because I don't want to sign up for a plan like Cingular since I still prefer my land phones. Any online sites where I can check out these phones just for the 911 feature to get a tiny one I could maybe clip onto my clothing?
