Ants won't cross any fine powder, so if you want to use something that is
safe for pets, just lay down some talcum or baby powder across where they
are coming in to the house.

This works really well when camping too. If you want to have an ant-free
picnic or tent, just sprinkle a border of fine powder and bob's your uncle.
We also sprinkle some around the tires and jacks of our 5th wheel.
