Re: OFF TOPIC -Hanoi Jane anti-war bus tour

I am old enough to remember first hand. I am old enough to have protested
the Korean War (and was threatened with expulsion from high school at the
time). I protested the Vietnam War, too, but what Jane Fonda did was not
protest. It went beyond that. What she did was unbelievable. She did take
sides with the enemy and she did speak against the armed forces--even though
it was not then a voluntary army but consisted of many who were themselves
opposed to the war. The thing with the prisoners, and turning over notes to
the enemy may or not be true, and I can't quite go with the photos taken
being "out of context". She was young and stupid, and may very well in
hindsight regret what she did, but based on the facts I remember at the
time, her actions did verge on treason.
