That was what was so sad. I was totally opposed to the war, and vocal about
it, but really felt terrible about the way our returning servicemen were
treated, and said so. I felt the same way about the Korean War, in which
both my husband and my brother served. Even with our volunteer army, there
are many servicemen who did not expect to be fighting this current war or
they would not have volunteered, and I am sure there are many opposed to it,
and doubly so for the National Guard who have been called up, and some of
the older service men and women who thought they were out of the service
permanently. But they are over there fulfilling an agreement and deserve
credit. What was so wrong about Jane Fonda was that her protest appeared to
be not just anti war which many agreed with, but pro enemy, and blaming
servicemen.
