Not sure about the "several hundred cc's" part.
The style guides for most accounts I work on say to spell it out if there is no specific number attached.
But the style guides for most accounts I work on also say to use mL instead of cc, which is considered a dangerous abbreviation, so I would do it:
several hundred milliliters of blood was withdrawn
(I would use "was" because it was the blood that was withdrawn and not the milliliters, although I have had people disagree with me on that)
