Well, funny you should ask. Here's what happened.
Boat shop refused to budge. The best they could do was to let us buy a new
motor at cost.
Lawyer sent demand letter to boat shop. (Respond in 30 days...)
32 days later boat shop manager called lawyer, bitched a while. Lawyer said,
"Look, we can go to court if you want to, but I guarantee that you will
lose. Just because you SAY you are not responsible, does not make it so!"
The guy then offered a brand new motor, same as old one, but 3 years newer.
Husband accepted offer, having gotten a good deal on a fish finder (motor
was a couple grand - fish finder a couple hundred).
New motor hanging on back of boat now - with lock.
