Just because we learned something one way years ago doesn't mean it was
correct then or now. I try not to be too dogmatic about this stuff. I
think the BOS explanation is a good one. The editors of that don't just
make this stuff up, they consult several authoritative sources before
they make a decision. Anyone is free to disagree.
