Re: Interesting view on fee increase

Gisele, you had no obligation to explain yourself to us, but I'm glad you did. I confess to sometimes feeling a little impatient with what has sometimes seemed like a superior attitude, for lack of a better description, but, to me, this explains where you're coming from with a lot of things. It sounds like you've overcome a lot of obstacles based on pure grit, and I commend you for it. I know, you don't need my congratulations, but you have them anyway!

I guess I would urge that person to look at their situation and see
what, if anything, they can change about it. Much in this life IS out
of our hands. I was barely raised by two alcholohic parents. I have
two sisters and a brother. I stayed in school, got good grades, got
myself a scholarship and got the heck out of Dodge. Two of my siblings
are still sitting in our crummy home town bitching about all the bad
luck they have had. They had every opportunity that I did, but they
did nothing with it. Unfair things happen to nice people all the time.
We have to hitch up our belts and get on with it. Some luck we CAN
make for ourselves. Rae seems to think that I need more sad things to
happen in my life so that I understand what the world is like. Please.
My mother was bipolar, my father was a pillhead. I think I understand
what's going on out there. I feel lucky to be alive and kicking.

I just put out two little forest fires with my business this morning
(one stupid thing that I did, another a stupid thing that a dictator
did). After that, I don't have much patience with people saying how
"nice" it is that I am so "lucky," when the truth is, I busted my hump
to get where I am. Now I hope you understand where I'm coming from. I
want MTs to succeed, to get ahead, to get the pay they deserve. They
have to speak up for themselves more than most of them do now. And,
they have to deliver high-quality work.
