So what?? Really. People here who are or have been landlords (myself
included) have stated that they want the rent on time. Nobody is disputing
whether or not they want good tenants or bad tenants who don't pay the rent
- that is a no-brainer. If it is in your lease (that you signed) and you
are disputing it at a later time, then you really are out of luck IMO. It
is not unreasonable for landlords to expect late fees when the tenant does
not live up to their end of the bargain. That does not make them
heartless. To charge them a competitive late fee based on the value of the
property, etc. does not make them heartless. For them to expect the rent
to be paid on time does not make them heartless. People have financial
obligations. Just because you are landlord does not mean that you are
rolling around in money. Besides, even if you are, the financial
obligation is still there and to expect someone, just because they have
money and you don't, to relieve you of your obligation whether it be late
fees or what is really just idiotic IMO.
