There still a ton of people on the base in Alabama. The military is not
totally depleted here state side. They said today that there really wasn't
much for them to do yet and rather than ship them all there and have them
stand around in raw sewage, they were going to wait until it "cleared up'
enough across Mississippi and Louisiana for them to actually be able to do
something when they got there. There are tons of volunteers and emergency
preparedness/disaster people, according to the news channel I watched on
and off this afternoon but they really cannot do much considering how
dangerous it is in NO right now. People are mad because they don't have
power and there are no power people barreling down there but the power
people cannot fix the main grid and turn on power to a city that is
flooded, has natural gas leaking all over the place and is covered in raw
sewage.
