Unbelieveable they can't airdrop some stuff in especially water. How can there be an excuse not to get water to these people in the superdome? I'm sure all the bottled water companies in the country are sending it by the truck or plane load.

I just can't watch any more of it. This is supposed to be a civilized country! I feel so totally frustrated. I want those people to have help and there is absolutely nothing I can do for them--heck I can't even walk without my walker after what Katrina caused to happen to me, but it is just killing me to watch. Liberal media? Where is that?

Barbara, did you see the folks at the convention center? You know we drop
food and water to folks in Iraq and not to our own people. They have been
there, some since Monday. There are dead bodies there (newsman reported on
MSNBC). He said there was no national guard or police, no authorities
telling them anything. Toilets backed up. Dead bodies all around the
center, dead from dehydration. Dead babies. Two men dropped dead in front
of him. He was really going on and on (he'll probably be fired). He said
no one is sending any help or water or anything. Others were saying they
can drop water to other countries why not to us? Well, probably because
they don't give a damn. I'm sorry but I think these people are poor, and
the wrong color for Bush to give a damn about. Flame me if you want that is
my opinion. This is Thursday for Christ sake this is horrible. No excuse
for this whatsoever. If nothing else they could be dropping food and water,
if they gave a damn. One woman I swear her baby looked like it was dying
from dehydration. This is so third world and is BS in this day and age it
makes me sick.

I'm not sure the "powers that be" are doing everything possible. Look at
those people stranded on the highway. Helicopters can land there with no
trouble. Where are they? People are dying up there. New helicopters can
get through with no problem. Where does the highway go? I saw cars on
some
scenes--where are the busses to take these people away. They have people
on
news programs telling people numbers to call--there are no phones. By now
cell phones are dead and no way to charge them!
It is a freakin mess. They interviewed a Louisiana National Guard unit
outside of Baghdad. They should be back in Louisiana--that's what the
NATIONAL Guard is for. I know there was terrible mismanagement here with
Andrew and it didn't stop until the Army came in. FEMA wouldn't take our
application without a phone number! They asked for a neighbor's phone.
There were no phones. They insisted on a "contact" number and I finally
gave them my daughter's phone number in New Jersey for a "contact" number,
but we had no way of getting in touch with her!!!!
Okay, I'm going to say it, and I know it is going to make people mad, but
I
think our President and his cronies are nothing less than mass murderers. They are fighting a holy war while our people are dying. Go ahead and
flame
me--I don't care. I'm mad as hell and I'm saying what I think of it.

I wonder what shape their airport is in? If it is functional, could they,
for the immediate need, somehow get the people over to the airport, and
have huge airplane just flying in supplies? Airport property is usually
huge, miles and miles. Could set up shelter and just keep one or two
landing strips open. I'm sure the powers that be are doing everything
possible... it's just a thought that went blowing through my mind. Maybe
the airport is under water, too.

I think they are so in shock they aren't thinking straight and some just
don't have the savvy to do that. They are sure getting restless in the
Super Dome, I'm not so sure that they will go quietly to another one in
Houston, which apparently is the plan to bus them to the Astrodome in
Houston. At least that has power and air and working toilets and
food.
DH said why don't they just leave the SuperDome and I said, because they aren't letting them, but some are starting to "get out" any way they can.
It's
starting to get pretty ugly in there.

The thing that bothers me a great deal is that with all the trashed
out
lumber around, why people don't build fires on the asphalt and use any
kind of container to boil water. The water probably wouldn't taste
very
good, but if it were boiled, it probably would be safe to drink.

I cannot believe the things that I am seeing on the news. It is almost surreal. Those poor people. In a moment of time they are without everything.
I know people who have lost everything in a fire before, but it was
nothing
like this devastation. They got put up in a hotel or apartment
almost
immediately. Not that I am minimizing what one would go through in
losing
their home and possessions in a fire, but these people down south
have
no
where to go. And not only are they on the streets but the streets
are
full
of water. No food, no water to drink, no way of taking a bath or
shower.
Everyone just walking around with no where to go, a lot of them not
knowing
where loved ones are. It is heart wrenching to see what these
people
are
going through.
One news show I was watching, a man came up to a spot that had water
in
it
and filled a plastic jug with that water and was about to drink it when
the
reporter stopped him and gave him a bottle of clean water.
I can only watch a few minutes at a time because it is much too
upsetting.
God be with everyone of these people. Judy

Just got a call from a friend in Northern Alabama. They got hit and are without power, but are fine. Trees are down, but people are appparently okay there.
