A chimney sweep can usually do a good job of inspecting it, but if you
can't find one, your fire department will also be glad to check it out.
One of the things we emphasized when I was a firefighter was that it's a
lot easier for us to spend ten minutes preventing a fire than two hours
extinguishing one. Much safer, too... :-)
