Re: OT Animal Rescue

I agree. My son has 2--in his separate apartment. We have 2. The
caretaker who lives in a trailer on the property has one. I think 5 is our
limit here. I don't think anyone would notice if we had another, but I
don't like to take the chance because I would be devastated if I had to part
with one I was attached to. The caretaker's dog adores and guards the
horses which is why Animal Control never got called when he was "dropped
off." He appears to be a Wheaton Terrier. The caretaker adopted him. He
lives in a trailer on property and in return looks after the place when we
go off and feeds the horses (by his choice, as I used to do take care of
them, and still see that they get their carrots).

We get a lot of "drop offs" some of them quite nice dogs and you wonder
why--but possibly since there is a considerable geriatric population here
some may just be from people forced to give them up for whatever reason. If
they are nice dogs in good condition we may keep them a few days and try to
find homes for them, but a lot are in poor condition and some downright
awful. A number are pit bulls, which are illegal to own in Miami-Dade
County, so there is nothing we can do but call Animal Control for those and
you know they are going to be put down.

I cannot understand abandoning animals. The people who do it should be
dropped off in the middle of the Sahara Desert and told, "Good Luck."
