Let me preface that I think this has turned into a pissing match -
which I think is a shame because there was a lot of good dialogue
taking place. Then, I am pretty sure i never said "kids should be kept
in cages". I think I said i had no first hand knowledge of what these
'cages' actually were but that I didn't think the parents were putting
their 5 foot kid into a rabbit hutch. If one were to cover the top of
a crib with mosquito netting - is that not then a cage of sorts? If one
were to put a child in an upside down playpen, is that not a cage? (saw
it on an episode of Bill Cosby). If I put my 3 foot child into a 4
foot enclosure -am I caging them like an animal? - to clairify - none
of my kids or animals have ever been in any kind of cage....except the
animals to travel via plane. Don't some McDonalds and some play rooms
have *cages* for the kids - multiple children - to play in in order to
keep them confined and in one safe area, I think I said that i could
understand the reasoning behind having some children with certain
behavioral/psychosocial problems into a confined space for sleeping
purposes. To further clairify - and I think I already said this to-
until I know what the 'cage' is I am not condoning or approving use of
same - but I do understand the safety/security need to confine some
children.
