Re: Norton, McAfee or AVG?

Even AVG's update process slows my computer down enough that I just let it update before doing anything else. I probably don't have enough RAM (160 MB). Either way, it updates when I first start the computer for the day, which I've learned to expect, and just plan to give it a few minutes to update before I do anything else. Heck, it's free and does a good job (I haven't gotten a single virus on this computer since I began using AVG, something I can't say for Norton) - can't ask for more than that!!

I remember now what annoyed me. When it did update, it stopped everything I was doing. AVG just updates and it does not bother me. Everything went in slo-mo with Trend when it updated and sometimes I just had to go away for a few minutes.

The only time I ever had a virus was with Norton and that was one of those Trojans.

Anyhow AVG is for me.

Regarding long distance, I got into the business when so many I knew had to pay exorbitant rates for phone service just to work and when the flat rate plans came in, I figured I had done what I needed to do so no, I no longer do the long distance market.

I am so glad companies are waking up and using the internet and even though there are still companies that do not, flat rate is very reasonable. I learned a lot about phone service too when I did that so it certainly was something that taught me something. ;) AFter I left, I had some long distance carriers actually trying to get me to sell for them lol!!

I had Trend Micro and used it for a year and went back to AVG. Nothing

did get past it but I forget what about it was annoying...there was something

though. Anyway, I still have it on disk but use AVG faithfully, which has
updated 5 times today already

Hmm, I wonder what was annoying for you. It updates periodically throughout
the day, which kind of gets annoying when I am in the middle of typing, but
I'm glad that it is updating. I have it set to do a scan once a week (you
can set it for more if you like). I didn't find AVG to be very good. I had a
virus and it did nothing and ended up having to reformat. I got a virus with
Trend and it took care of it right away.

Out of curiosity Vickie, do you still dabble in the business of long
distance phone coverages?
