Re: Pet Meds on-line

Exactly the point, Maureen. I'm sorry Tallulah took what I asked as a personal attack. It wasn't meant to be - but I imagine she took her cues from another who seems to rejoice in turning most anything I say into evil intent. I love my small animal vet. In fact, he retired once, sold his practice to those who worked for him, and we dealth with them for a time. When we found he opened a new practice in easy reach of us, we eventually switched back. He has never been on his high horse and realizes that not everyone can or wants to go to any length to give an animal one extra minute, day, or week - and he doesn't judge on that. The fact the Petmed site is of little or no savings to us goes to prove that.

Jeannie I think that was my whole point when I first posted my question about buying the meds on-line. I do pay an outrageous price for my vet visits to begin with because A. He is located in a higher priced area where everyone automatically charges more and B. My dog/cats are comfortable there. We used one vet for years but as he got older, he also got a bit grumpier and every time my dog just wasn't comfortable going there. She would growl whenever the vet came near her and she would little take a crap in the exam room each and every time which was really surprising because my dog is extremely submissive. Our dog prior to this one never behaved that way, but this one just doesn't like that vet. So when we found this clinic and the dog actually never hesitated going in the door, I knew that it was a good match. I have absolutely no problem paying what his bills are, but I do have the right to look somewhere else for meds. If I'm charged 30 dollars for one month Rx for meds and I can get 100 pills for $18, this is where I am willing to bend cause the dog doesn't care where the meds come from as long as they are the right meds.

Maybe they have the right to make a
profit, but as the consumer I have a right to save as much money as I
can, most especially when it isn't even an issue of quality of product.

I imagine it would be the same as with transcription. People can get the
same product from someone else cheaper but you may get good customer
service, and some extras that make it worth paying the extra money for.
Our vet is a dream. He gave me his home number and his cell number when my
puppy was sick. He spends a great deal of time with us every time we go
there, he explains everything to us in tremendous detail, provides us with
wonderful printouts of everything they got and why and he has provided us
with web links to look up different things and even told us that vet x down
the street doesn't charge as much for Rimadyl as he does, so he can write
the prescription and I can get it from him. Everyone has the right to
charge what they believe they are worth, whether it be the vet or the
transcriptionist or the hairdresser. It doesn't make them bad because you
can find the same product cheaper elsewhere, it makes it America.
