Re: New Computer

Dad's did that once, or maybe it was "C: drive not found", can't remember which. We tried to figure out what was wrong with it, and the only thing I could come up with was that the hard drive was gone. He got mad, bought a new computer (the old Sony was less than a year old, but would he call about the warranty? Noooo!), and deposited the old one on my porch. I had an old HD sitting around at my house, not really big enough to put in a computer that new, but figured it was worth a try. Opened the case and what did I find but that the ribbon cable to the HD was partially disconnected. How that happened, I'll never know, as Dad insists he never opened the case or moved the computer. After reconnecting the cable, it booted up like there had never been a problem. I called and told Dad, but he still wanted nothing to do with the thing, said he'd already gotten a new computer and didn't ever care to see the old one again. My daughter ended up with a great system! <G>

Hope you have lots of fun with it. "No operating system found" is usually a computer's way of telling you that the hard drive has gone on permanent vacation... The bad news is that it took all your files along with it and tossed them in a dumpster somewhere in cyberspace as it was leaving.
