Re: MTDesk is down again!

((With DH's huge family and some of his
sibliging who would not back off idea of everyone buying for everyone
(20++++ at this point), some of us screamed uncle. ))

Rae, around this time of year I always flash back to one year when my
sister's eight children were all small. After Christmas morning with Mum
and Dad and my Uncle Ray, we all trooped down to George and Jan's home.
That particular year as I walked up into their large front room, the
abundance of packages under the large decorated tree was actually rather
obscene.

The opened boxes spread out into the room so that it was actually difficult
to find any room to walk. New clothing was lying around, thrown down in
disgust since they weren't toys. My other sister Barbara who was down in
Brazil with her own five children had large flats of baby food delivered as
four of Jan's kids were still very, very young and still in diapers. The
toys were too numerous to count, and some I saw were already broken or
discarded from boredom. I'll always love my sister and some of her kids,
too, but I think that year soured me on sending presents to each and every
person in my family.

Now, I send small gifts that mean something personally to me only to those
friends and family who are special and don't really expect my presents.
However, I want to keep the spirit of Christmas and honestly enjoy giving
presents more than getting then, so I'll continue visiting stores like
Wal*Mart and smiling at the greeters no matter what words they use to
welcome me there. There's too much ugliness and hate in the world now to be
bothered by the small matter of semantics, don't you think?
