Someone should have told that to the judge who found it just fine that a teacher had the children in a California school adopt Muslim names and take part in Muslim prayers as part of the school curriculum. I've still not heard of any time the ACLU has spoken up for the rights of a Christian that were being trampled upon in direct violation of the law.
There are laws regarding what can and cannot be done on public property and in public schools, and the ACLU doesn't always win their cases against Christians. Schools can have Bible studies and can even have classes specifically to study the Bible. It is legal to take a Bible to school and read it during lunch or study hall, it is legal to give a book report on a Christian book, it is illegal to discriminate on the basis of religion.

We've provided assistance to people of all religions over the years, including Christians. The problems we see most often, though, seem to involve Christians trying to get their beliefs or activities either imposed on others or made part of school and government functions, so I can see why you'd get the impression that the ACLU is anti-Christian. It's not. What it is against is anyone trying to use the power of the government to enforce observance of their own religious beliefs or to create the impression that they have the imprimatur of the government on what they're doing. This means that schools can't sponsor religious observance and the government can't dictate the content of bible studies in your home and church.

Sorry, but I don't remember any case of the ACLU helping Christians. Maybe they have, but I haven't heard about it.

It amazes me to no end that those people who claim to celebrate freedom and everyone's ability to do their own thing, regardless of what that thing is, can't wait to shut other people up!

WELL, I guess someone who works at one of these stores can make the case that "Merry Christmas" is protected speech, and maybe the ACLU will help them out! Are any of them making such a case??
