Re: MTDesk is down again!

That goes on a lot it seems. I could post I hate Big Macs, then if someone accuses me of saying I don't like them I can say "That's not what I said."

Dangit, Rae, will you quit posting what Phyllis really meant in her posts (but in plain English)???<VBEG> You know that her only defense is saying "I didn't say that" (even though she did)....all because she knows exactly how to post it in such an abstract way that when she feels cornered she can backpedal and try to make us into liars and word twisters.

Well, then long as Jew, Muslim, gay, pagan has a good heart and is doing best they can they have nothing to worry about, right? Oops, wrong, they don't believe like you do

Don't know about sleeves, Su, but I live my faith every day as best I can. I don't say I don't drink then go drink. I don't tell people I don't smoke and then smoke. As a Christian, I do the best I can, believe in Jesus, and will let Him make the final decisions. Fortunately, He knows our hearts as well as our deeds, and knows we are not perfect. . . ever.

How long have you been wearing your religion on your sleeve?

The aren't offensive to me because they mean nothing to me. If they want to spend eternity in Hell with Satan, they can be my guest. I've never been offended by the faith of other people because it is meaningless to me.

Thanks for the clarification, but let me take it to the next level.
Do you feel, as a practicing Christian, that you have the right to pray in public circumstances, when there might be people around you who don't want to listen to prayers.
Consider the reverse ... what if it was a satanist praying in public circumstances. Would you want to hear what they're saying?

Dang. That's like asking, "What if somebody sneezed on you in public circumstances. Would you want to catch that moisture?"

No it's not. Satanic prayers are as offensive to the Christian as Christian prayers are offensive to the Satanist.

"What if somebody talked loudly on their cell phone in a restaurant while you're trying to eat/talk to your dinner companions? Would you want to hear what they're saying?"

Depends upon what they're saying. :}

"What if somebody lit up a cigarette right in front of you as you were leaving a public place? Would you want to get smoke blown in your face?"

Steve Martin had a joke about this one.

"What if somebody had an unruly child in a public performance and wouldn't/couldn't control them? Would you want to have to listen to it or hear over it?"

No more than the parent would want to listen to what I had to say about controlling their little pup.

There are all SORTS of things people do in public I don't want any part of. I deal with it. If I'm REALLY ornery that day, I might sneer or say something snide about some people's kids with no home training or cough pointedly or roll my eyes, but I just move away as quickly as possible and continue with my own business.

Sometimes you can't --- try being seated in a stadium your daughter's high school graduation, and right from the beginning they open the ceremony with a prayer. There's another prayer injected later on. There's a third prayer at the close of the ceremony. Nothing written on the program about any of this. It's kind of hard to get out of the earshot of things.

I don't really give a flip about Happy Holidays versus Merry Christmas, but to get all up in arms about it (either way) is a waste of time and energy.

But, it's not the people who want "Happy Holidays" who are not getting into a flip about things.
