That's not what I meant. Observing Christmas is not a doctrine, but if you feel in your heart that observing Christmas is not a Christianized pagan ritual but simply taking a day to focus on Christ's birth and how the world is different because He came, there is nothing prohibiting you from doing so, but if you feel it is a Christianized pagan ritual and don't want to have much of anything to do with it because its pagan origins make you uncomfortable, you can legitimately refrain from observing it.

This principle was clearly stated in the NT where it talks about eating meat that had been sacrificed to pagan idols and talking about people who observe some days as more holy than others (verses available on request), and it's not creating your own doctrine, just holding a personal belief.
