Could be. I don't know much about the whys and wherefores, just that mine hurt like the dickens!! <G> I was absolutely terrified I was going to develop another one when I had a wisdom tooth pulled a couple of months ago, as I'd gotten them with both of my previous extractions, but it didn't happen. Thank God. By comparison, I would call that extraction totally painless! (It wasn't, of course, but it wasn't anything like those dry sockets, that's for sure.)
