The radio tubes probably went like crazy because they quit making them quite
a while ago even though there are still quite a few of us out here using
tubed linears for our CBs and such. When I was working on them for people I
was lucky in that my grandfather was into fixing old tube type TVs years ago
and still had a large selection of tubes that I could use and make a hefty
profit on since they were so rare to find in working condition. I have a
nine-tube linear which will probably lose one of its tubes soon and I'm out
and they are terribly hard to find now as compared to even 10 years ago when
I was fixing them for people.
