Medicare might not be what I would like it to be, but it has certainly helped. If this were 1960 and we didn't have Medicare yet, my husband would be dead because we couldn't afford the dialysis treatments. Just one of his drugs (which probably wasn't even available before Medicare was instituted) costs $12,000 a month.
