I don't know where you get "you" from. I specifically said "our" standard is what "we" can afford. I would never presume to tell anyone (including my own children) what kind of house to buy or car to drive. Where are you getting this garbage from? I DID NOT say anything about anyone else's choices, just the choices of me and my husband.

Feel superior? When it took us so long (remember, I'm already 67) to get debt-free? You can't be serious.

you, given the state of home purchasing today, how low a person's

were supposed to go. If "what you can afford" is a shack in a

neighborhood, then are you going to raise your children there just to

having a mortgage debt that requires two incomes? Okay, then. You
just keep feeling superior about that.
