I don't think it's not a problem to initially lose a large amount of weight,
but the problem is keeping it off. The issue has to be health over weight.
IOW, "I'm going to change my eating and activity habits, for an improved
quality of life ... and whatever weight I lose is an added bonus."
Otherwise, you don't learn lifestyle changes and ultimately the weight will
be put right back on again.
I found this info on the fatty liver:
http://www.gicare.com/pated/ecdlv37.htm (there's also a link at the bottom
about the pyramid diet)

Doesn't too-fast weight loss make fatty liver worse? I *think* I read
that somewhere. That's why a lot of people who have gastric bypass
surgery get fatty liver, because they lose their weight so fast.
Hope your enzymes level out!

Forgot to add...
Got my blood tests back and my liver enzymes were elevated, just like
they were when I had my test in October. My PMD did a liver ultrasound
then and I was told it was a fatty liver. I plan to repeat the tests
again in three months after losing weight and hope (and pray) those
enzymes come down. If they don't come down after knocking out the
alcohol and losing weight, I'm afraid to think of what those elevated
enzymes might mean.
Meanwhile, I'll wait and see, and do everything I can to take care of
myself until then.
