Re: Digital recorders

My ftp site is set up so that each doc uploads to his file in my server,
which when I transfer them go directly into the dictation folder in their
main folder on my computer. When I set it up in their office I do that for
them, then there is nothing else to be done. They just download and move
the files into the ftp site, which already designates who and where it goes
on my computer. I fire up my start-stop foot pedal and go get the files.
Hope I made this clear. It is a very simple process. I also use a free ftp
program called FileZilla. My son set up my server for me, which happens to
use Linux as its operating system. It was inexpensive to set up and has
worked very well for about 2 years now. If anyone is interested, my son has
his own business in Colorado where he does this type of thing for clients,
and also sets up and maintains web sites. He is well-qualified with a
degree in electrical engineering, major in computers, and with several
specialized certificates. I'm lucky. When a lightning storm fried my
server I just shipped it back to him and he rebuilt it and sent it back--I
had it back in less than a week. If anyone wants his e-mail address e-mail
me and I can give you further information.

Hey, I can brag about my kids! Right!

So you aren't able to use the auto download feature to keep them
organized or are you manually moving them around to where you need
them? We just right click and rename and then move to a folder for each
doc. It comes out in chronological order that way. We also label the
schedule files the same; the voice files contain a v at the end and the
schedules an s at the end.
