Re: OT: AARP

Just FYI - last time I checked the numbers, it took 7 of today's
workers to support one person receiving SS.

The amount put into the system and the subsequent gains aren't in any
way equal to what's being taken out.

People Lizzie's age are paying in to support people who have retired.
They may never actually see the benefits themselves.

Why should we protest on your behalf? We're too busy working supporting

Lizzie,

This is not true. We do care about you and the debt that we are
raising not only for you, but for your children and your grandchildren.
One of the differences, every single one of us who will be getting SS,
if we get it, has worked to earned it. We are not the generation that
didn't even have to work one day (although probably most of them are
dead or will be dead soon) and collected a full check.

And secondly, we know that we won't be getting what is coming to us,
but we are trying to help those ahead us at least have food and
medicine. I don't know if it will happen in your family, but your
generation will INHERIT the largest amount of money (even percentage
wise) that has ever been inherited. If this doesn't help you, it will
help to take the bite out of the debt that we have left this country
in.

I do think that something will happen, or has to happen because your
generation will not be able to support the unevenness of recipients to
donators.

While, I know personally this doesn't pertain to you, I do think that
we were too busy giving you what you wanted, instead of taking you to
show you how people live without and donating time to nursing homes and
what it is like to be homeless. I am sure that our parents felt this
way about us, and probably your children about you.

Janice
