Re: Ping Kathycarp re: Nitrous

Christie,
I'll ask him about the TMJ. There are many people who need nitrous, and he
would have just referred you to someone who used it in their practice.

It took me a few days to think of asking this question after you mentioned
why your husband doesn't give nitrous anymore.
I'm one of those people who thinks they need nitrous. I'm an excellent
dental patient - the problem is I have TMJ and keeping my jaw open makes
things painful not just for the cleaning, but for days after. When I was
searching for a dentist the last time, each time they said they didn't
have
nitrous I'd ask what they did for a patient in my situation. I was
surprised that nobody had any suggestions or accommodations. Not even a
"we
find putting a warm compress on the jaw for 2 hours before your
appointment
helps" - nothing at all!
Is there really nothing that can be done for people with TMJ? I find it
really hard to believe, but you never know.
