There's enough fanaticism on both sides to squelch intelligent debate, asBeing able to see more than one side of the issue is not ambivalent at
all
IMO. Caring whether or not a minor child is required to have parental
consent to have an abortion performed but thinking it is okay for someone
who is no longer a minor is not being ambivalent. It is called parental
concern and there are many things that require parental consent, so why
shouldn't abortion be one of them? You are granted certain freedoms once
you are no longer a minor and your right to have an abortion is one of
them
(although afforded now even when they are minors without consent).
But in fact the supporters of abortion on demand are the same people
who vigorously oppose parental consent laws. I hear what some are
saying about the middle ground, but when was the last time you heard
any well-known pro-choice activists concede that parental consent is
simply common sense, or that abortion as birth control is just plain
wrong? If there is no middle ground, it's not solely the fault of
pro-life activists by any means.
Jay
far as I'm concerned.
