Congrats on the new feller!!!
Now ... tell him to STFU or he's going to sabotage your efforts to quit.

Funny this should come up. There is a new feller in my life.
Unfortunately, he practically goes ballistic over the smell, the sight,
the NOTION of a cigarette. I have never been around a ruder person when
it comes to this.
I immediately took the ashtray out of my car when I started seeing him.
I bought patches. I carry around all manner of personal hygiene items
now - patches, toothbrush, hand wipes, mouthwash. Not because I'm
"minding him" but because I don't want to offend somebody who (at the
time) seemed to be a perfect fit.
At first it was okay as long as I didn't smoke in his house or truck.
Well of course I wouldn't - I wasn't raised by wolves! My daughter did
smoke in his truck but she WAS raised by wolves.
Now it's like "Last night I could really smell the cigarettes on you."
He's gone a little beyond rude - I had cooked 20# of potato salad (boy
was I mad when I found out it was 20 instead of 15, I really felt
wronged then), an enormous container of baked beans, and another huge
container of banana pudding...not because I was hungry, but because he
was having a workday at his race track and I was being "supportive" or
something and feeding the volunteers. I chopped up all the crap it
takes to make potato salad (I'd rather die than make it, but I take a
certain pride in making the best tater salad anywhere), mixed it all
up, tore my kitchen apart, and toted it all over to his house. We are
not like "going steady" or anything, but I like to please him and I
really wanted us to be a couple after he's not so busy with this
enormous project.
So all he remembers is that he could smell cigarettes on me. It made me
real mad, but it also made me realize that this is a HUGE HUGE problem
for me and I'm being stubborn. I have now cut off my nose to spite my
face.
I have to quit and I don't want to but it smells so bad and we all know
that he is not the only person on earth who dislikes smoking (duh). So
I'm listening to this topic with real interest.
