That's what I needed to know, Chris...how to prevent the dictations
from getting lost. So if they save it first to their computer and then
send to me we should be fine...right?
Should be. I use Olympus recorders, as do the clients. My client
actually zips their voice files monthly, so they always have a copy on
their computer. I delete my copies of the voice files only upon receipt
of payment for same. When we choose the download feature in the digital
software, it downloads it into there and stays there unless we manuall
hit delete, but as some have indicated, you can have the files
automatically downloaded to a different specified folder and NOT choose
the delete after dowloading option. The clinical coordinator is the gal
in charge of downloading from the client's office. The docs each stop
in and give her their recorder, she takes it and docks it, the software
automatically comes up, she chooses download and erases the files off
of the recorder only, gives it back to them, and off they go. Now the
only copy is on her system, until she sends it to me. I have NEVER had
a case where they have asked me to send them a copy of either their
voice file or schedule due to THEM losing it.
