Re: OT: Now you've done it

You're not really going to find a deal, so anywhere you can buy one is okay--though you do get faster service if you deal directly through the Apple Store (they have one online, though the RL stores are fun because you can play with everything). (My daughter's nano developed a problem and it took them only about 10 days to replace it with a new one--engraved like the original.) Get the biggest one you can afford, because you WILL fill it. (Mine also syncs with my iCal, address book, and I can add text files to it for shopping lists and whatnot.)

I just bought the JBL OnStage, which is a moderate-priced little gizmo (about $145) with great sound--I mean BIG. It was way better than Bose (of course--Bose is mostly hype) and maybe even better than the Klipsch that was over $100 more. For some reason, I need to have a little background noise for work, and this is cheaper than running the TV and all its peripherals all night long. Best Buy had a display where you could try out several brands, and most of them sucked pretty badly, so try them out.

I also got the Griffin RoadTrip, which is a neat little FM transmitter that works for all iPods--and the sound is better than my old CD player through the cassette adapter. My only complaint is that a digital radio is too tricky to tune to a non-station, and you can't really change on the fly if you should happen to drive through an area that interferes. It mounts out of your lighter socket and makes a nice little dock you can deal with whilst driving.

With all this talk about Ipod, I *want* one. But I also want the little speakers so I can play it out loud. I've been wanting to replace the little "boom box" player I have in my office, and this might do as a replacement.

Where is the best place to buy an Ipod? (having not paid attention, I haven't seen them anywhere) Does anyone have experience with the speakers? Do they sound good? I did see the speakers at Costco, but not the Ipod.
