many treatment centers USE the 12-steps in their programs.

Yes, and the only one I am familiar with here in Eugene does use AA as a
part of their treatment.

My feel? When an addict decides they will truly be sober they will be,
and
it won't matter if they are in AA, rehab, in my office, sitting on a
mountain in Fiji.
One of my favorite cliches from AA:
It works if you work it....... and that applies to any of the sober
support
systems.

that.
I believe the only thing that can truly fill that void and bring

This "treatment center" vs "12-step program" is such a useless issue, I
think. Some people "get it" in a treatment center. Some people "get it"
12-step. Lots of people in AA "got it" in a treatment center and areran
continuing sobriety in AA. So what? Sober is sober.

At the rehab I attended once, they discharged me when my insurance
trulyout after a week. Guess I was cured. LOL!
You had the option of paying to stay, why didn't you? If you were
something, serious about recovery then money would not have been a barrier,
right?
Where do you suggest the money comes from to run the facilities?
No, actually I didn't have the option to pay. The cost was around $300
per day, and I had just lost my job and was quite unemployable.
As far as the money it takes to run the facilities, I don't have much
faith in facilities that sell recovery because I don't believe it's
something you can sell.
Addiction is basically about trying to fill an inner void with
that.drugs, food, sex, relationships, gambling, etc.
I believe the only thing that can truly fill that void and bring
healing
is spirituality, and the facilites you mention can't really provide
this
What holds NA together is to focus on its primary purpose, to carry the
message of recovery to suffering addicts. NA is not distracted from
environmentby any financial bottom line or other business agendas. This
has no "experts" or "counselors", no authority figures, but just the
therapeutic value of one recovering addict helping another.
You claim an 88% success rate, but do you think an addict that has
relapsed and is in active addiction is going to be honest with you
about
that, especially if you have any kind of relationship to their parole
officer or court system in any way? LOL!
I'm certain you're aware that addicts in active addiction tend to be
facile and manipulative liars, especially about their using.
