Barb, is this what Zandy looks like? Or are there different color
variations?

I know--the great thing about Salukis is minimum grooming, and they need
lots of exercise for conditioning--but they do it on their own--not
counting the fact that she INSISTS I go on a nightly walk with her before
bedtime.
I don't have any pictures posted. Have never looked in to any of the
posting sights.
Stacking is setting up a proper post, legs square and slightly stretched.
At first you place them, but when they are experienced like the dogs that
show at Westminster, they "free stack" or assume the pose by themselves.
She is starting to do that at home--but a complete flop at the show. When
I tried to place her hind legs she just collapsed her rear. The judge was
very patient but we never really got her to a show stance. Comes with
experience. The frustrating thing is she is doing so well at home, and
the only cure is to get her out often so she gets used to it. It is very
intimidating for a young dog to suddenly be exposed to several hundred
dogs, crowds of people and all that noise. She seems to like to go. You
ask her and she will go for the car!
I will try to get some pictures. How do you go about posting so people
can see them on the internet? I just haven't bothered to figure it out.
I think I have a program with my Adobe Photoshop that will let me do it.
Of course I don't really have anything but snapshots. Should get the show
photographer to take do one next weekend!

We had a little Shih Tzu one time that had been sold as a puppy to
someone for a show dog, but then his jaw went "***-eyed" (***-jawed?)
so the breeder took him back. Then we got him. Had a great personality. I
always felt bad for her show dogs, though, because they never got to run
around on the carpet because it would damage the ends of their "dust-mop"
coat.

Just thought you might like to know Zandy (Omens Xanadu) won her class
and went Reserve Winners Bitch (that's not a bad name in dogdom) at West
Palm yesterday. The consensus was she would have won in the second
class had she shown better. She's a "back yard champion"--she is
starting to "free stack" at home, and at the show she shied from the
judge and wouldn't "stack" at all. Next weekend we have 2 shows at Fort
Lauderdale, so we'll hope for even better. I'm proud of her.
No, I'll never make it to Westminster. If we decide to go for her
championship I am going to have to have a professional handler show her
for her majors (you must win 2 3 point or higher shows among your 15
points for a championship), as I just cannot run fast enough to show her
to her best advantage. The opinion of the breeders who have seen her is
she is capable of finishing with proper handling, so it might be fun.
Once she has her majors I can show her for the rest of her points!
It's not like showing horses which I did for years--to many
championships. But, I can't afford that any more. This I can afford,
and we're enjoying it.
