Julie, this puzzled me and my doctor for so long. He finally ended up just
taking it out - thanks for sharing this! I'm so excited!

And they haven't fixed this in future versions of Word? I "think" I wasof Y
able to do this manually in Word 97 and it looked liked it stuck.
Fortunately, I use WP51 to do all the headers. When doing a running
document (multiple reports) I start renumbering at page 1 for each
report. The headers are then suppressed on page 1 (I don't count
headers). My macros automatically find the last page of the report and
using system page assigns the number of Y automatically. If for some
reason that changes I can change manually. This all converts to Word fine.
Thanks for telling us that, Julie. Of course I do find it pretty
miserable that people have had to spend hours thinking they aren't
gettig something when it's the program!

Hi everyone,
Here is a link for everyone who has been having trouble with the Page X
work.feature in Word's headers/footers. This link explains why it does not
tries toIt's not you...it's a Microsoft glitch that frustrates everyone who
say, make sense of the feature. My problem was on screen it looked fine, but
when printed it would say 2 of 2, 3 of 3, for page numbers instead of ,
alone.2 of 7, 3 of 7, etc. My workaround was to total up the pages in the
document and then go into the footer and replace the "Y" part of the
equation manually with my total. I would leave the "Page X of" part
myIt would then insert the first number properly and read correctly before
doestotal page number I'd inserted . For anyone wanting a quick fix this

No affiliation with mvps, just found this site the other day
productivity.com I think) and it has lots of answers for Word Users.
Hope this helps you all.

I am using headers and footers on something I'm doing. For some reason,
no matter what I check or uncheck, if I have a 3-page report and put
the pages in 2 of 3 and then 3 of 3 using the field function, both the
second and third page have the same number. When I change to 3 of 3,
then page 2 of 3 says 3 of 3.
I just do not know how to fix it.
