So, it comes down to "works" after all. I was taught very rigid rules.
When I see others who feel even more rigid rules apply, it is to my
horror I think "What if they are right?" A woman can't wear a man's
clothing. Guess that means I'd have to give up my horses. It isn't
practical to ride horseback in skirts, especially in the wintertime.
Unfortunately this is the way my mind works and I will never be able to
stop thinking this way. Trying to make a commitment to a belief system
would drive me insane with guilt in about five minutes - Should I do
this? Is that wrong? How can you be sure?

That, my friend, is my hell on earth.

Welp. There shouldn't be an argument, because that's true, according
to what I'm taught.

How about the verses that teach that the mark of a believer is
obedience
and love for the brethren and the verses that teach that nobody who
conscientiously/habitually/consistently practices sin can be a child
of
God?
Salvation isn't about works. Salvation isn't about rules. The
commandments are like a mirror; in it, we can see that our face is
dirty. Would you propose that you should use the mirror also to wash
your face? Of course not. Jesus Christ is the water to clean your
face, so to speak. Faith in Christ is about surrender, it is about
trust. It is going back to a time when you thought and believed like a
child, before one's conscience is hard, dry and brittle. When your
conscience was uncluttered, without rules and regulations. When you
did the right thing because you wanted to please, out of the motivation
of love.
