Salvation isn't about works. Salvation isn't about rules. The
commandments are like a mirror; in it, we can see that our face is
dirty. Would you propose that you should use the mirror also to wash
your face? Of course not.
How else will you make sure you got off all of the dirt? (no, I'm not being
cagey)
Jesus Christ is the water to clean your face, so to speak. Faith in
Christ is about surrender, it is about
trust.
You don't trust someone simply because you're told that you're supposed to
trust it. Trust has to be earned.
It is going back to a time when you thought and believed like a
child, before one's conscience is hard, dry and brittle. When your
conscience was uncluttered, without rules and regulations. When you
did the right thing because you wanted to please, out of the motivation
of love.
And once it's hard, dry, and brittle, there's no going back. As far as rules
and regulations, those exist even as a little kid (i.e. don't eat with your
fingers). And as far as just wanting to please, that exists in adulthood as
well. It simply depends upon who you want to please, just *because* you want
to please them.
